Biological Information
Background Information:
UbcH5a is a class II E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme that functions at the core of the ubiquitin–proteasome system (UPS). It mediates the transfer of ubiquitin from E1 (UBA1) to substrate proteins in conjunction with a wide range of E3 ubiquitin ligases. UbcH5a promotes degradation of tumor suppressors such as p53, and inhibiting this interaction is a potential strategy for restoring p53 activity in cancers.
