Biological Information

Background Information:

MYLK2 (Myosin Light Chain Kinase 2) is a serine/threonine protein kinase that belongs to the myosin light chain kinase family of kinases. It is involved in the regulation of smooth muscle contraction and cell migration. MYLK2 plays a key role in the regulation of smooth muscle contraction by phosphorylating myosin light chains, which triggers the contraction of the smooth muscle cells. In addition to its role in smooth muscle contraction, MYLK2 has been implicated in the regulation of cell migration. It has been shown to play a role in the formation of focal adhesions, which are critical for the attachment of cells to extracellular matrix and for the transmission of signals that regulate cell migration.
